Filmmaker Anil Sharma of ‘Gadar’ Fame Hosts His Film ‘Genius’ Wrap-Up Party, Sunny Deol Introduces Lead Hero
MUMBAI—The post wrap-up party of Anil Sharma’s “Genius” was held on Mar. 7 at the Novotel, Mumbai. His long-term friend Sunny Deol introduced the new hero of the film, Utkarsh Sharma, Anil’s son. It was also Anil’s birthday, and a cake was cut on the occasion.
Close family friend Bobby Deol and many others joined in the jubilation. The K.C. Sharma and Kamal Mukut presentation of Anil Sharma Productions and Soham RockStar Entertainment’s film “Genius: Dil Ki Ladaai Dimaag Se” has music by Himesh Reshammiya (who arrived after the formal event was over) and lyrics by Manoj Muntashir.
Leading lady Ishita Chauhan was introduced by Sharma himself to the media and film fraternity, and he also called on stage the cast and crew present, and other guests.
Ayesha Jhulka, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Abhimanyu Singh, K. K. Raina, Dev Gill, Babbu Mann ,DJ Sheizwood, Daboo Malik, Saawan Kumar and Bijon Dasgupta were present.
Anil Sharma said, “I am delighted to introduce my son. We started to shoot for “Genius” on his birthday, and we wrapped by on my birthday. My special thanks to Soham Rockstar, Deepak Mukut and Kamal Mukut for standing like a pillar of support throughout the making – they never even came for the shoot because of their complete trust. It is because of them that I was able to complete my film in three and a half months. I would also like to thank each and everyone from my unit.”
The film is written by Anil Sharma, Sunil Sirvaiya and Amjad Ali with Najeeb Khan as DOP.
While Sunny Deol imitated Sharma in one of their arguments on sets (that he stressed were for the betterment of their films together), Utkarsh Sharma admitted that he had learned to question his director (who happens to be his father) from Deol. He had also played Deol’s son Jeetey in “Gadar: Ek Prem Katha” and watched him get into the character thoroughly whenever Anil directed him.
Ayesha Jhulka quipped that Anil gave her no choice in signing the film. “This was my first movie with him. He just told me, ‘You are doing this film, and we leave the day after tomorrow for Mauritius.’ But I have done so many films and never have I seen this kind of atmosphere wherein everyone is treated like family.”
